There are about 500 lots out of 1,400 lots in the relocation site in Brgy. Granada, Bacolod City, that are ready to accommodate qualified informal settlers of the city, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday.
The 58-hectare relocation site bought by the Bacolod City government from the Arao family has been recommended by the Landbanking Committee since it is adjacent to the existing Vista Alegre Granada (Abada-Escay) relocation site.
Leonardia said they are just waiting for the go-signal of the Bacolod Housing Authority to allow informal settlers to transfer to the 500 lots in the first phase of the project.
He said the area will be ready for occupancy by the second quarter of this year.
Leonardia recalled that it took them almost 20 years to have the roads leading to the Handumanan relocation site cemented.
But since they had secured a loan with the Philippine Veterans Bank, they were able to concrete the roads leading to the Arao relocation site and will install lighting facilities in the area soon because this is part of the loan package, he added.*CGS
