‘swertres’ coordinator

A suspected coordinator of the illegal numbers game, “Swertres”, was arrested by regional intelligence operatives of the Philippine National Police in Region 7, in coordination with the Negros Oriental PNP Intelligence Bureau and the Dumaguete City police, yesterday.

Arrested during a raid at Mel-Rose Road in Barangay Calindagan, Dumaguete City was a certain Everit Lim, alias Ever.

The raid was conducted by virtue of a Search Warrant No. 1370-092711-16, for violation of Republic Act 9287, issued by Judge Douglas A. C. Arigomen, presiding judge of RTC Branch 5 in Cebu City, on Sept. 27, 2011.

The team confiscated during the raid voluminous pieces of yellow pad papers used as tally sheets and assorted coins in a plastic container, believed to be bet money for the illegal gambling game, “swertres”.

Calindagan barangay council member Gemma Villaflores and barangay tanod Dionisio Ysola witnessed the search, a police report said.

The PNP Regional Intelligence Division-7 raiding team was led by Chief Insp. Rogelio Pineda Jr., from the regional PNP Office in Cebu City.

The suspect is now detained and formal charges are being readied against him.*JFP
