Couple held up,
stabbed leaving mall, hubby dies

A Moises Padilla resident was killed and his wife was injured by a hold-upper as they were leaving the Gaisano City Supermall in Bacolod City at about 6:45 p.m. last night, the police said.

Napoleon Alvarado Perez Sr., 56, of Barangay Crossing Magallon in Moises Padilla, who was stabbed in the chest, was declared dead at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, PO2 Janio Oliver Manaay, said in his investigation report.

Madeline Perez, 53, sustained a stab wound on the left arm and was undergoing treatment at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center last night.

The couple had gone grocery shopping and were headed for their car in the south parking area of the mall when the holdupper stabbed them, the police report said.

Barangay tanods and SPO1 Reggie Atienza nabbed Roberto Caagoy Lambanecio, alias Nonoy Karabaw, 18, of Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod, in a chase.

Lambanecio, an alleged known holdupper, was positively identified by witnesses as the assailant, a police report said.

The suspect had apparently cut the wire of a cyclone fence behind the mall to enable a swift escape.*CPG
