A former policeman was named the first winner of ABS-CBN’s Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition at the Ynares Complex in Rizal province Saturday night, while a Negrense and grandson of Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco was third runner-up.
Former policeman Larry Martin of Camarines Sur bested 15 other contestants after losing 101 lbs from his previous weight 255 lbs or 39.61 percent, in almost four months of training at the biggest loser camp.
Meanwhile, Negrense Enrique Rafael Zayco Tan, 22, a data encoder was third runner-up after losing 100 lbs or 34.84 percent from his previous weight 287 lbs.
Tan, who had served as father and mother to his younger sisters since their parents and other sister were murdered in their home in Iloilo City in 2006, said he had always been big since he was a child and his reason for losing weight was to find a work and give a bright future to his younger sister, the show’s official website showed.
Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco, an uncle of Raffy’s mother, said they are grateful because his grandson’s sacrifices in his stint at the biggest loser camp for almost four months have paid off.
Zayco said they are yet to finalize the activity for Raffy’s homecoming and the entire family and the rest of the people of Kabankalan City are proud of him.
Aside from Tan and Martin, other winners of the show were Arthur Mendoza – second runner-up, Angela Lupango – 4th place, and Hazel Chua – 5th place.*APN
