Culinary demo held
at garden club show

Students from the Institute for Culinary Arts at the University of St. La Salle showed their skills to the public and the garden club, at the Negros Occidental Garden Show at SM City, yesterday with a demonstration of dishes using plants as ingredients.

Among the dishes prepared several included an unusual ingredient - edible red gaway flowers. And to wash the dishes down students offered everyone cups of a refreshing cucumber and pineapple quencher, a press release from event organizers said.

The Garden Show, which features a wide range of flowers and trees plus daily presentations and lectures, is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the SM North Covered Car Park. It closes Sunday, October 23, the press release added.*

Dance showdown
set at plaza tonight

The 32nd MassKara Festival closes with GMA’s roster of primetime Kapuso stars who will be in Bacolod City for the 1st MassKara Dance Showdown finals at the  Bacolod public plaza at 7 tonight, a press release from the network said.

Party Pilipinas’s Solenn Heussaff will sit as one of the judges while Time of My Life’s Mark Herras, Kris Bernal, Rocco Nacino, Jean Garcia, Raymond Bagatsing, Cherie Gil, and Raymond Bagatsing will have production numbers to entertain the crowd.

The 10 finalists, J-Crew, Freestylers, X-Vision, Rhythm Squad, After Class Crew, Real Jam Crew, New Olds Crew, Night Rhythm, CDFS Crew, and Pry Groove, will perform for the top spots.

First place winner will receive P15,000, second place winner will get P10,000, and the third place winner will get P7,000.

 Non-winning groups will each receive P3,000 in consolation prizes, the press release added.*

‘Outbound Patag Dos’
calendared

The Negros Youth for the Environment, together with the Silay City government, will be holding “Outbound Patag DOS” tomorrow until Oct. 23, at Brgy. Patag, Silay City, Negros Occidental, a press release from organizers said.

This activity aims at providing a venue for young environmentalists to conduct a clean-up drive in the various tourist attractions of Brgy. Patag.

It also intends to enhance consciousness towards environmental protection, and conservation and establish linkages with various environmental organizations.

This five-day activity will include a trekking and clean-up drive to Tinagong Dagat, Sulfatara and Pulang Tubig. Participants will also be joining a seminar about environmental protection and conservation. The event will also include commitment building towards environmental protection and conservation, the press release said.

Noel Patrick Alvior, NYE chairman, said the project was started in 1994 and has been held in Candoni town, and Sagay, Escalante, Kabankalan, Sipalay, and Silay cities, and the province of Guimaras, the press release added.*
