Marijuana ‘peddler,’
rape suspect nabbed

An alleged marijuana peddler and a rape suspect were arrested by the police Oct. 17 and 18 in barangaysE. Lopez and 5 in Silay City, Negros Occidental, police records show.

Supt. Rosauro Francisco yesterday said the arrest of Joelito Mandahuyan, 43, in Sitio Bonbon, Brgy. E Lopez, Silay City, during a buy-bust operation yielded 20 suspected marijuana cigarettes and P200 in marked money.

Mandahuyan is now detained at the Silay police jail.

Franciscosaid Roqueto Declines Jr. was also apprehended at his residence in Sitio Cabay-Bulangan, Brgy. 5, Silay City,by virtue of an arrest warrant for the crime of rape.

Judge Reynaldo Alon has recommended a bail bond of P200,000 for Declines, who is also detained at the police lock-up cell.*GPB

3 jai-alai operators fall

Three alleged jai-alai operators, one of them a minor, were apprehended by Station 6 and Police Regional Special Operations Groups men at about 7:45 a.m. yesterday in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City, while their companion escaped.

Station 6 commander, Chief Insp. Placido Gentoleo, identified those apprehended as Wilfredo Arjenal, 19, Mary Ann Alisbo, 46, and a 17-year-old, whose name is being withheld, all of Brgy. Taculing.

The alleged jai-alai coordinator identified as Pepito Chavez, evaded arrest, police records showed.

Gentoleo said those who were apprehended were caught while in the act of tallying, encoding, and collecting bundles of tipsters with codenames “Meredien Vista Gaming Corporation”, “Blue Diamond” and “Target”.

He said that two carbon papers, a small tickler with number combination, a ruler, five ballpens, P413 in cash and a Sunriser motorcycle with chassis number LATXCGLY4719008 with plate number 2207GL, were seized from the three suspects.

Arjenal and Alisbo are now detained at Police Station 6, while the teenager will be referred to the Bacolod City Social Development Center.*APN

Gun seized

The Binalbagan town police arrested a man in Brgy. San Jose Friday for alleged illegal gun possession.

Town police chief, Insp. Albert Sy, identified the one arrested as Jonard Pigar, 27, of Sitio Loreto, in Brgy San Jose.

Sy said that intelligence personnel of the Binalbagan police led by Senior Police Officer 2 Joel Donasco were informed that there was a person creating alarm and scandal at the vicinity of the municipal building in Brgy. San Pedro.

He immediately sent personnel to the area and they saw Pigar throwing empty bottles of beer at several bystanders, Sy added.

Pigar was apprehended by the team of Donasco and a homemade .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver without serial number and four live ammunition were seized from him when the police frisked him.

Pigar is now detained at the Binalbagan town police jail and charges for illegal gun possession will be filed against him.*APN
