Ginebra Kings to hold
coaches clinic at WNU

Basketball development program in Negros Occidental gets a boost this Saturday when the Ginebra Kings holds a coaches clinic at the West Negros University Gym.

Interested basketball coaches in Bacolod City and neighboring areas are encouraged to join in the activity and are advised to get in touch with the WNU Sport Office for details.

Ginebra Kings will be in Bacolod City this weekend for an official PBA game against the Powerade Tigers in Victorias City, Saturday, at 6:45 p.m.

Trinity, Tay Tung athletes
bag gold in NOPSSCEA

Trinity Christian School bet John Ronnel Uy bagged the gold in the 3,000 meters steeplechase, as Bacolod Tay Tung High School woodpushers won the championship in the elementary boys and girl chess competition of the 2011 NOPSSCEA held in different venues in Bacolod City.

Uy also finished with a silver medal in 1,500 and 5,000 meters events.

The members of the BTTHS chess champions were Joshua Francis Soliman, Erl Jireh Martinez, Cedrick Severino, Cliff Jason Desabille, Christian Andrew Lim, Flint Marvin Desabille (elementary boys); Rica Rose Gabales, Cherry Catherine Ng, Kate Nichole Sadje, Krizza Ricci Nepomuceno, Era Samantha Gauma and Raphaela Subayco (elementary girls department).

Murcia council okays  
Sports Scholarship plan

The Sangguniang Bayan of Murcia has approved the Sports Scholarship Program proposed by Mayor Andrew Montelibano.

SB Resolution No. 2011-145, authored by Sports Committee chair Adrian Olimpo, gives full support and recognition to the grassroots sport development plan.

Earlier, Montelibano said that his administration is determined to pursue its search for potential champion-athletes from the grassroots, especially in the fields of boxing, taekwondo and athletic discipline that are all Olympic events.
