Stingers stun Mustangs
in NOPSSCEA opener

University of St. La Salle Stingers delivered a serious threat to West Negros University’s 12-year reign with an 84-80 stunner as the battle for supremacy in NOPSSCEA 2011 men’s basketball started yesterday at the West Negros University Gym.

With an estimated crowd of 1,500 packing the venue, the Stingers engaged the defending champions into four quarters of intense basketball rivalry, never giving up until the final buzzer.

Coach Eugene Opuan of the USLS Stingers attributed the win to his wards’ desire to avenge the loss they suffered in the hands of the Mustangs in last year’s championship game.
