Jobless man nabbed
in illegal drug raid
The Bacolod City Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Group arrested a jobless man for alleged illegal drugs possession at about 8:40 a.m. yesterday in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Municipal Trial Court in Cities Executive Judge Napoleon Diamante, the team led by Senior Insp. Joemarie Occeño raided the residence of Joenar Pugoy, alias “Yayay”, 50, at the Doña Juliana Subdivision in the city.
Occeño said they seized from him during the raid a big sachet of suspected shabu, three elongated plastic sachets of the banned substance, an improvised tooter, an improvised plastic straw used as scoop, and a disposable lighter.
Pugoy, who was presented to the media yesterday, refused to say anything about his arrest, and where his supply of the illegal drugs came from.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, sections 11 and 12, for possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, respectively, will be filed against Pugoy, who is now detained at the Bacolod City police headquarters.*APN
Loose guns and bladed weapons were seized by stations 1 and 8 policemen from five men they arrested at the Bacolod City downtown area and in Brgy. Pahanocoy, Sunday.
John Edmar Rodeo, 20, of Brgy. 3 and Juanito Carmelo, 21, of Brgy. San Isidro, both in E.B. Magalona town, Negros Occidental and Ran Jay dela Rosa, 22, of Estancia town in Iloilo province were arrested by Station 1 policemen at about 9 a.m. Sunday.
Rodeo, Carmelo and dela Rosa were arrested by a team led by Police Officer 3 Wilfredo Perez of Police Station 1 for creating alarm and scandal, Station 1 commander, Chief Insp. Ulysses Ortiz, said.
A 12-inch and a 7-inch bladed weapons were recovered from Rodeo and Carmelo, respectively, while a .45 caliber pistol with five live ammunition was confiscated from sela Rosa, police records showed.
Meanwhile, Lito Bebit Geronimo, 42, of Purok Maninihon in Brgy. Pahanocoy and his neighbor John Alit, 21, were arrested by Station 8 policemen at about 9:10 p.m.
Station 8 policemen led by Police Officer 1 Bobby Jose Solina seized from Geronimo an improvised shotgun or “sulpak” while an icepick measuring 13 inches was recovered from Alit.*APN
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Region 6 conducted a seminar on Enhancement for Administrative Investigation at the MassKara Hall of the Government Center in Bacolod City, yesterday, a press release from the BJMP said.
About 42 BJMP investigation representatives in Western Visayas attended the seminar led by SJO1 Leo Laserna, regional investigator.
Insp. Castle Masip, Intelligence Division chief, said the seminar aims to remind investigation representatives of their function while conducting investigations. They were also taught how to write investigative reports, the press release said.
The seminar will enhance their capability to conduct preliminary or basic investigations and data-gathering in the field, he added.
Meanwhile, the BJMP Region 6 is conducting an Enhancement Seminar on Jail Intelligence Matter today to be led by Masip.
The seminars are a joint effort of the Regional Investigation and Prosecution Division and Regional Intelligence Division, the press release added.*
