AACI Transport, Organic
book semis seat in Fil-Sino

The favorites march on to the semifinals as No. 3 AACI Transport defeated No. 6  AACI Farms, 88-80, and No. 4 Organic Solutions outscored  No. 5 JSY Countertrade in the second half for an 86-73 victory in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade 2nd Conference Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Organic is playing against top seeded Huminova Tigers as of presstime, while Transport tangles with Basecom in the other semifinal match.

Transport took the lead in the opening period, 30-21, as Kenderson Hao and Vincent Tan scored eight points each on their fastbreak conversions.

Bol Manaloto delivered 11 points and Errol Su shot eight, to cut the deficit to 44-42 at the break.

A balanced offensive with Hao, Toffel Tan and Vincent Tan combining for 14 points, gave Transport some breathing room to extend the lead to 64-57.

Badong Eufre delivered nine nine points and Michael Ang had six points to rally Farms, but the timely hits of Matthew Yap tallying 11 points, stymied the comeback.

Vincent Tan had a game-high 20 points for Transport, backstopped by Yap with 17 points, Hao added 15, Toffel Tan finished with 12 points, Tsai and Mark Coo scored 8 points each.

          Farms got contributions from Michael Ang 14, Marc Lo 12, Manaloto 13, Pao Pao Lim and Eufre  11 points apiece, Celhelm Uy and Errol Su 8 points each.

          In the second game, JSY Countertrade was about to pull off an upset as it took the half 33-41, buoyed by Marvin Ortiz’s 12 points and Robbie Jalando-on nine points, even as Organic got six points each from Daniel Chiu, Devin Villacruz and Chibon Uy.

          But the second half was a different story as Countertrade struggled in the offensive end with Organic Rey Pandoro delivering seven points to force a 55-all deadlock going to the fourth quarter. .

Organic continued to ride its momentum as Bobby Yap dropped three treys and Chiu added eight points for a 31-18 payoff quarter advantage and foiled the challenge by Organic.

Organic had the scoring chores evenly distributed with Chiu scoring 14 points, Pandoro and Yap with 13 points each, Devin Villacruz made 12 points, Julius Teruel shot 10 points, Monroe Chua and Chibon Uy shot 8, and Edward Uy with 6 points.

Ortiz spearheaded Countertrade with  21 points in a losing effort, Ryan Manaloto and Jalando-on made14 points each, Bong Palo shot 9 points, Archie Co and Jan Jan Lopue with 6 points each.*NAB
