Dynamic wins 9-A-Side title

William Claur opened the championship game with a strike from the right wing in the 24th minute to allow Real Negrense a 1-nil lead but the goal proved to be the team’s last as Dynamic Builders equalized in the 35th minute and added two more markers in the second half to capture the title in the 2011 Negros LPY 9-A-Side Football Tournament at the Ayala North Point pitch, Sunday.

Keeping their focus and showing good defensive stance, the Dynamic Builders FC of Ricky Yanson went to Ali Rojas Go for the equalizer in the first half then to Eliseo Palomo in the 54th minute for the team’s second goal.

John Carmona nailed the team’s third goal in the 80+3 minutes on a getaway pass from Go, who was eventually named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and best striker.

Yanson said he was happy for his team to win the championship and was very glad to see both finalists playing a good game in the final match.

Other individual awardees were: Bes de la Noche of Trimaxi-Agro as most improved player; Romeo Paranpan of Real Negrense, best goalkeeper; Jason Cordova of Dynamic, best defender;  Carmona, best midfielder; and Ceres Transport FC as “Fair Play” awardee.

Ceres Transport salvaged the third place honor by beating Trimaxi in a penalty shootout, 6-5, after a 3-all deadlock in regulation.*
