Prov’l  BAC bares
opening of bids

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Provincial Bids and  Awards Committee  chaired by provincial treasurer Danilo Mendez  has scheduled the opening and submission of bids  for at least five major infrastructure projects in Negros Oriental worth about P70 million.

The first major project being bidded this week is the  P9.8 million rehabilitation and improvement of Highway 2000   that traverses the road from Nabilog to Guincalaban in Tayasan to barangays Eli and Pacuan in Jimalalud and La Libertad road.

Also scheduled for bidding  are the  rehabilitation and improvement of the hinterland road from Sto. Niño in Tanjay City to barangay Narra in Bayawan City, for   P4.9 million and of  the    hinterland roads from Pamplona to Sta. Catalina, worth P14.7 million.

Earlier, Gov.  Roel Degamo  said  there is a  need to rehabilitate these major road networks in the hinterlands to provide   easy access to farmers  bringing their farm produce to the lowlands.

The pre-procurement conference for the upgrading of the Gov. William  Villegas Memorial Hospital in Guihulngan into a Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric Newborn Care  facility, with a budget of P24, 402,255.73 and the Bayawan District Hospital at P12,197,784.01, are  also scheduled this week at the provincial capitol.

Also scheduled for bidding are the acquisition of one  brand-new anaesthesia machine for the Provincial Health Office worth P1.8 million,  and the purchase of two units ventilators for the  medical ward section of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital worth P2.8 million, Degamo said.*JG
