The Provincial Bids and Awards Committee chaired by provincial treasurer Danilo Mendez has scheduled the opening and submission of bids for at least five major infrastructure projects in Negros Oriental worth about P70 million.
The first major project being bidded this week is the P9.8 million rehabilitation and improvement of Highway 2000 that traverses the road from Nabilog to Guincalaban in Tayasan to barangays Eli and Pacuan in Jimalalud and La Libertad road.
Also scheduled for bidding are the rehabilitation and improvement of the hinterland road from Sto. Niño in Tanjay City to barangay Narra in Bayawan City, for P4.9 million and of the hinterland roads from Pamplona to Sta. Catalina, worth P14.7 million.
Earlier, Gov. Roel Degamo said there is a need to rehabilitate these major road networks in the hinterlands to provide easy access to farmers bringing their farm produce to the lowlands.
The pre-procurement conference for the upgrading of the Gov. William Villegas Memorial Hospital in Guihulngan into a Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric Newborn Care facility, with a budget of P24, 402,255.73 and the Bayawan District Hospital at P12,197,784.01, are also scheduled this week at the provincial capitol.
Also scheduled for bidding are the acquisition of one brand-new anaesthesia machine for the Provincial Health Office worth P1.8 million, and the purchase of two units ventilators for the medical ward section of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital worth P2.8 million, Degamo said.*JG
