Cris Joven of the Manila team topped the Stage 2 of LBC Ronda Pilipinas Finals 2011 that ended at Silay City yesterday.
Ronda Pilipinas is the biggest cycling event in the country covering Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and featuring 96 cyclists from different provinces vying for prizes worth more than Php 7 million.
Joven finished the race in 5 hours, 15 minutes and 3.8 seconds, earning himself a gold medal and Php 50,000 cash prize as leg winner.
Santy Barnachea of Eastern Pangasinan landed at second place with his time of 5 hours, 15 minutes and 4.8 seconds to receive the silver medal and Php 25,000.
Winning the bronze medal and Php15,000 cash prize was Joel Calderon of Nueva Ecija, who finished the race in 5 hours, 15 minutes and 10 seconds. He also received the blue jersey as the Fastest Sprinter in the race.
The yellow jersey was given to George Oconer, the Best Young Rider in the race.
Named as King of the Mountain was John Lexer Galedo, who received the white jersey, while over-all leader, Santy Barnachea, was given the red jersey.
Stage 2 of the race covered a total distance of 214 kilometers from the town of San Jose, Negros Oriental to Silay City in Negros Occidental.
The race will cover 12 stages for a total of 1,560 kms. The next stage will be held in Iloilo and will end in Caticlan, Aklan.
