A garbage collector lost a leg in a freak accident involving a garbage compactor truck Tuesday morning in Tayasan, Negros Oriental.

Police reports said the sanitation worker, identified as Jesus Candido, about 50 years old, was on the truck at around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, with his companions and collecting garbage in the town.

Reports said Candido who was hanging on the back-load compactor truck got his left leg caught in the moving machinery.

Doctors at a hospital in Dumaguete City had to amputate the leg as it was badly crushed.*JFP
