| Driver killed in mishap
A driver was killed when his motorcycle hit a concrete fence in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia town, Negros Occidental at about 2 a.m. Saturday.
Police identified the victim as Danilo Rebuti, 47, of Purok 3 in Brgy. Minuyan.
Rebuti sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelinbano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Reports to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office showed that Rebuti lost control of his motorcycle, while negotiating the curve in Purok 1 and hit the fence of Heide Ulayra.
The motorcycle he was driving that is owned by Isagani Banista of Brgy. San Miguel was damaged and is now in the custody of the Murcia police.*APN back

Policemen recover
stolen motorcycle
A motorcycle believed to be stolen was recovered in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City, at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
Maximo Libradilla, 43, of Piña-Sabag streets in Capitol Heights Subdivision, Brgy. Villamonte, told the police that his blue motorcycle parked in front of his house was stolen at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
A follow-up operation was conducted by personnel of Police Station 2 led by its deputy chief, Insp. Benedicto Villarias, and by members of the Bacolod City Police Investigation and Detective Management Branch led by Insp. Homer Vargas.
Reports yesterday said that after two hours of search, and with the help of a concerned citizen, the motorcycle of Libradilla was recovered parked in Purok Pugad Baboy in Brgy. Villamonte.
Station 4 policemen are still working on the identities of those who stole it.*APN back

‘Car burglar’ apprehended
An suspected car burglar was apprehended by Station 2 policemen at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at his residence in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City.
Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Lester Leada, yesterday identified the suspect as Armando Valderama, 28, of Purok Riverside in Brgy. Banago.
Leada said Valderama was apprehended on information from a concerned citizen that he is responsible for the theft of several items from a car parked at the North Capitol Road in Bacolod at about 3:20 p.m. Friday.
Complainant Joseph Pemingco told the police that his car that was parked near the old Pala-Pala Market had been forced open, and that, his laptop and other valuable items were stolen.
Pempingco’s laptop was recovered from Valderama during his arrest but the other items were not retrieved, Leada said.
Valderama, however, said he has nothing to do with the two other car burglaries at B.S. Aquino Drive and at Lacson Street in Bacolod City Thursday night.
Leada added they are preparing robbery charges against Valderama, who is now detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 2, while the laptop has been returned to Pempinco.
City Police Director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, had ordered an intensified police visibility patrol operations at the area covered by Police Station 2, following the series of car burglary incidents.*APN back
