Huminova, Basecom
win Fil-Sino crown

Huminova Tigers and Basecom  lived to its top billing by disposing separate opponents in similar fashion to win the championship in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 3rd Conference Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gymnasium.

The Tigers pulled away in the fourth quarter anchored on their fastbreak game to hold off AACI Farms, 98-88, to capture the Class A title.

Tigers Yan Yan Dy and Buddy Eufre poured in 15 and 9 points,   respectively, in the opening quarter to give the Tigers a 28-17 lead.

Ilahas joins Cebu
Tchoukball tourney

The Bacolod-Negros Tchoukball Team Ilahas led by Jose Montalbo, regional director of the Philippine Tchoukball Federation, left for Cebu the other day to compete in the 2nd Philippines Open Tchoukball Championships scheduled set January 15 and 16 at the Cebu Ayala Gym.

The Bacolod-Negros delegation is composed of three teams that will see action in three categories -- the U18 boys’, men’s Open and the women’s Open.

The tournament in Cebu will also determine the team under the U18 Boy’s category that will represent the country in the Asia Pacific U18 Tchoukball Championships that will be held in Taipei, Taiwan on the third week of May.

Petron ready to
dethrone TNT

Three-games-to-one up and all pumped-up, the Petron Blaze Boosters go for the killer punch as they take on the beleaguered Talk n Text Tropang Texters in Game Five of their PBA Philippine Cup best-of-seven semifinal showdown at the Smart Araneta Coliseum tonight.

If ever, the Boosters will yet again be the spoilers of the Texters’ dream.

Talk n Text’s title-retention bid is in the balance with the Texters on the verge of elimination versus the same team that crushed their grand slam aspiration in the last conference.
