The Department of Labor and Employment Bureau of Working Conditions awarded four big companies in Western Visayas with the Safety Milestone Recognition Awards during the recent 6th Safety Milestone Recognition Program at Bayleaf, Intramuros, Manila, a DOLE press release said.

Awarded the SMile Recognition Award for achieving excellent safety performance in 2010 were the Distileria Bago Inc. (Neg. Occ.), Viva Natural Spring Water – CCBP Kanlaon Plant (Neg. Occ.), Toyota Motor Philippines, Inc.(Bacolod and Iloilo cities) and three depots/terminals of Petron Corporation in Bacolod, Iloilo and Roxas cities.

Gasoline prices up
by P0.80 per liter

MANILA – Oil companies raised prices by P.80 per liter for unleaded gasoline, P.30 per liter for regular gasoline, P.50 per liter for diesel and P.40 per liter for kerosene effective yesterday to reflect the higher cost of petroleum products in the world market.

Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp., Chevron Philippines and Total Philippines issued separate advisories regarding the higher pump prices, only four days after raising prices by P1 per liter.

Energy Undersecretary Jay Layug said oil prices would likely continue to go up due to the escalating tension in Iran.

HLURB promoting
new land use plan

The Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board in Region VI is promoting a new approved Comprehensive Land Use Plan assistance in the region, which it hopes to complete by the end of December 2012.

HLURB regional director Pilar Jamandre said the program, spearheaded by Vice President Jejomar Binay and HLURB Commissioner Antonio Bernardo, will last until May 2013.

She said they have identified 19 local government units in Negros Occidental, which includes Bacolod City, whose Comprehensive Land Use Plan needs updating.
