Son kills father in Ilog;
Brothers fight, 1 dies

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A 60-year-old man was killed allegedly by his own son in Ilog, while the quarrel of siblings led to the death of one of them in Binalbagan, all in Negros Occidental, on Jan 10 and 11, police records show.

Russel Damayon, 21, who is reportedly suffering from a nervous breakdown, allegedly clubbed to death his father, Rodrigo,60, Wednesday at their residence in Brgy. Tabu, Ilog, town police chief Senior Inspector Joshua Villasis said.

Villasis yesterday said Damayon hit his father, who was sleeping, with a water pipe in the head and back several times, without any reason or provocation.moremoremore

Guv opposes
P97 wage hike
Labor leader says it’s needed
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said he is opposed to the P97 wage hike being sought for workers in Western Visayas.

If the wage hike being sought is too high, it could lead to the closure of some companies, he said.

He said any increase should be affordable and should not be across- the-board, as smaller firms may not be able to survive.moremoremore
