The family of a housewife who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City, in December is offering a reward to anyone who can give information on the identity of the truck driver, who hit the van the victim was riding in and caused her death.
Albert Nalumen, the husband of Jenalyn Nalumen, 40, of Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City, said they are willing to offer P75,000 to the person who can identify the truck driver.
He said that since his wife’s death, they have been at loss as to the identity of the driver, who immediately fled after the accident.
Investigation conducted by PO3 Orlando Caporal showed that Jenalrn was on board the multi-cab of her brother, Aladin Adrias, 38, of Purok KBS in Sum-ag and they were heading south of Araneta Extension when their vehicle collided with an approaching truck.
Jenalyn sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, where she died at about 9:30 p.m. on Dember 27.
Adrias said yesterday that the driver of the motorcycle who was tailing them was able to identify the truck that hit his van.
He said the motorcycle driver even chased the truck but failed to catch up.
Albert reiterated his appeal yesterday to the truck driver to surrender so justice will finally be served to his wife.*APN back

58th slay case filed
against Ampatuans
MANILA - The 58th complaint for murder was filed on Thursday before the Department of Justice against former Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr., his son former Datu Unsay, Maguindanao Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr. and over a hundred others accused in the Maguindanao massacre case.
The other accused are former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Gov. Zaldy Ampatuan, former Acting Maguindanao Gov. Sajid Ampatuan, Akmad Ampatuan, Anwar Ampatuan, and 196 others.
It was earlier alleged that the massacre claimed the lives of 57 civilians, including 15 women and 30 media practitioners in Ampatuan town, Maguindanao on Nov. 23, 2009.
Only 57 counts for murder are now being tried by Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Presiding Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes.
A complaint-affidavit filed by Ma. Reynafe Momay-Castillo, said that a case for murder should have been filed for the death of her father, Reynaldo Geneblaza Momay, a photojournalist for the Tacurong City-based Midland Review, even if his body has yet to be recovered.
Castillo said only the dentures of her father were recovered.
The dentures, were identified by the herbalist who made it, “because he made these dentures and placed special marks on them” to identify that it was he who made it, she said.
Gilbert Andres, the legal counsel of Castillo, said the Philippine National Police had submitted their referral before the DOJ last year.
“We opted to file our complaint to remind the DOJ that there is still another victim whose case is not among those being tried in court,” Andres said in an ambush interview.
Andres said it was not only the dentures but they have witnesses who can say that he was part of the convoy of the wife of Maguindanao Gov. Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu that was ambushed and killed by armed men on Nov. 23, 2009..
Castillo also said in her complaint-affidavit That “Authorities earlier reported that a total of 57 human remains have been recovered from the site and of these, only three have remained unidentified. Of the three human remains, two have a full set of teeth while the third has full upper and lower dentures.”
“This, (Peruvian forensic expert Dr. Jose Pablo) Baraybar said that at least another body is missing, bringing the fatalities in the slaughter of innocents to at least 58,” Castillo said.*PNA back
