Candidates' for a
to start April 5

The Diocesan Electoral Board will hold a series of candidates' fora for the May 13 polls in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, April 5 to May 3.

DEB convenor Msgr. Julius Heruela said the forum aims to provide a non-partisan and free venue for candidates to present their qualifications, platforms or programs of government, and allow them to discuss with residents issues affecting their communities, a government press release said.

The forum will kick off Friday with the nine candidates for congressional representatives in three districts, the press release also said.

Other scheduled dates are April 10 for bets for governor and vice-governor; April 16, candidates for the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in the first district; April 18, SP for second district; April 23, third district SP candidates; April 26, Dumaguete City mayoral and vice-mayoral wannabes; April 30, first batch of bets for the Dumaguete City Sangguniang Panlungsod; and May 3, for the second batch of councilor candidates.

All fora will be held at the Fil-Products Dumaguete City studio-area at 7 p.m. for a live coverage.

Heruela said each candidate will deliver a five-minute speech to introduce himself and his platform of government, followed by an open forum with a multi-sectoral panel of reactors. The audience or televiewers can also ask questions on the candidates' qualifications, plans, platform or program of governance.

He urged the candidates to keep the issues on a high level and to focus on the interest of the people, the press release added.*
