20th Panaad Festival kicks off
with local products showcased

The 20th Pana-ad sa Negros Festival will showcase local products at the Trade Fair and Exhibits today until April 14 at the Panaad Stadium, led by the Technology and Livelihood Development Center, a press release from the Capitol said.

Participating entrepreneurs will compete for the citations for Pana-ad Best Product and the Top Grosser Award, the press release said.

The Pana-ad Best Product category will be chosen among the home furnishings, home accessories and personal accessories, while specialty food products will compete for the Best Market Potential, Best Innovative Product and the Best New Product categories.

DOLE issues pay
rules for tomorrow

Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz has released pay rules for tomorrow, Araw ng Kagitingan, which is a regular holiday nationwide, a press release from DOLE said.

This is by virtue of the declaration by President Benigno Aquino III under Proclamation No. 459, Series of 2012, Declaring the Regular Holidays, Special (Non-Working) Days, and Special Holiday (For All Schools) For the 2013, Baldoz explained.

Existing implementing guidelines state that  if an employee did not work, he/she shall be paid 100 percent of his/her salary for that day, with the COLA included in the computation of holiday pay, the press release said.

‘March inflation lower at 3.2%’

Headline inflation decelerated to 3.2 percent in March from 3.4 percent in February, and was within the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ forecast of 2.8-3.7 percent for the month, a press release from the BSP said.

The resulting year-to-date average inflation rate of 3.2 percent was also within the Government’s inflation target range of 4.0 percent ± 1.0 percent for 2013.

Core inflation, which excludes certain food and energy items to measure generalized price pressures, was steady at 3.8 percent. Month-on-month headline inflation was lower at 0.1 percent in March from 0.3 percent in February, the press release said.
