The Bailes de Luces of La Castellana town was adjudged again as the “Best Festival Dance” among contestants of local government units at he 20th Panaad sa Negros festivities in Bacolod City, Monday.
The Bailes' routine was witnessed by an estimated 10,000 crowd Monday night, a press release from the Capitol said.
“It was a well-deserved win by the Bailes de Luces performers,” Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., said. He also congratulated Mayor Alberto Nicor and the officials of La Castellana.
More than 20 towns and municipalities participated in the competition, Kabankalan City's Sinulog Festival was second with the Balbagan Festival of Binalbagan town as third, the press release said.
Rudy Reveche, chairman of the Best of Festival Dances Committee, said LGU entries were judged based on their choreography, 30 percent; performance, 30 percent; theme/concept, 20 percent; costume, 10 percent; music, 5 percent and hand props, 5 percent.
Rounding out the Top 5 Festival Dances competition winners were Silay City's Kansilayan Festival and the Minulu-an Festival of Talisay City.
The competition judges were Carlou Bernaldez, Julius Martin Sollesta, Rommel Flogen, Tres Solis and Annie Sartorio, the press release added.*
