Water District assails
project disinformation

The Dumaguete City Water District has expressed concern over the misinformation allegedly being peddled by some political candidates against a proposed business deal that will provide a new water source for the water district.

Esperatu Dicen, DCWD general manager, said that, contrary to the allegations being peddled by certain quarters, the Twinriver Corporation does not stand for Ocoy and Banica Rivers. Rather, he explained, it is a Manila-based company that has proposed a private-public partnership with DCWD.

The DCWD has a daily demand of 30,000 cubic meters, which it sources from its 17 pumping stations in Dumaguete City.

Election seminar at Silliman today

The 3 rd inter-agency seminar workshop on the conduct of free, credible, honest, orderly and peaceful elections will be organized by the Dr. Jovito Salonga Center for Law and Development, and the Commission on Elections of Negros Oriental, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Moot Court of the Villareal Hall in Silliman University, a press release from the SU said.

The activity aims to gather agencies involved in the conduct of elections in Negros Oriental to discuss anticipated problems and propose solutions to the coming May 13 polls.

This is to create a strong and efficient network of offices and persons who are able to identify, strategize, prevent, and resolve problems and challenges during the elections, the press release added.

awareness day slated

The commemoration of the International Hemophilia Awareness Day tomorrow will be led by the Little Children of the Philippines organization at the LCP Center in Barangay Daro, Dumaguete City, a government press release said.

The activity will start with a motorcade and end with a program at the LCP gymnasium.

Hemophilia is a bleeding disorder that slows the blood clotting process, and people with this condition experience prolonged bleeding, or oozing, after an injury, surgery, or having a tooth pulled, the press release said.
