The Department of Social Welfare and Development and the local government unit turned over a daycare center to Barangay Libjo, Dauin, recently.
DSWD Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat lauded the community volunteers for completing the project, and said they will continue to assist the daycare workers in preparing snacks and food for the children under the supplementary feeding program of the government.
The community project is built on a 48-square meter building that costs P790,300, and will directly benefit preschoolers of the 120 families within and outside the barangay.
The Libjo Daycare Center is one of the two projects identified and prioritized by the communities in Negros Oriental. The other one now being constructed in Barangay New Namangka in Mabinay, is expected to be finished soon.
The DSWD said 55 more projects will be completed soon in the province, including farm-to-market roads, water systems, school buildings, footbridges, health stations, drainage systems, and a rainwater harvester.*RG
