Aklan’s barefoot runner
sets new Palaro record

Running barefoot in the 2012 Palarong Pambansa in Lingayen, Pangasinan last year, Angelica de Josef of Aklan broke two existing records in elementary athletics. Yesterday, she did it again, this time competing in secondary girls’ 800 meters at Gov. Mariano Perdices Memorial Stadium in Dumaguete City.

De Josef finished the race yesterday with a time of 2 minutes and 17.2 to set a new mark after 18 years and erase the existing record of 2 minutes and 18.3 seconds set by Dely Condes of the National Capital Region in 1995.
