R-VI dominates table tennis

Bannered by paddlers from Negros Occidental, the Western Visayas table tennis team won three of the four table tennis titles at the 2013 Palarong Pambansa in Dumaguete City yesterday.

WVRAA bagged the gold in elementary girls and secondary boys and girls’ team championship and shared the bronze with the National Capital Region in the elementary boys’ department to secure more points for Region VI in the overall tally.

The champion elementary girls’ team, composed of Ann Angela Borbon, Edria Garganian, Jesseline Emille Mallen and Alyssa Toleco, beat Northern Mindanao in the final round, to win the gold, while NCR and Cotabato shared the bronze.

In secondary boys’ department, the team of Peter June Delariarte, Adrian Garrido, John Nino Gayoso and Vince Oliva asserted their dominance over Central Visayas, composed of Francis Acaso, Jean Phillippe Honoridez, Vence Flores, and Jerome Impuesto, who settled for silver. The NCR and Northern Mindanao were awarded the bronze medal.

Completing the list of table tennis champions for Western Visayas in this year’s Palarong Pambansa are Airah Alzado, Beverly Paulma, Shamiela Pineda and Marjo Grace Saldajen, who anchored secondary girls’ squad that beat Northern Mindanao and relegated NCR and CARAGA to third place.*NAB
