Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) yesterday said the access road that will hasten travel from Bacolod City to the airport in Silay City is expected to be completed by August.
The P400-million Bacolod-Silay access road covers 11 kilometers and seven bridges, and is a Korean-funded project, he said.
After the road to Silay is completed, Benitez said he hopes to have it extended all the way to Victorias City.
Meanwhile, he said it is not necessary at this time to extend the Bacolod-Silay Airport runway for international flights.
Extension of the Bacolod-Silay runway is not necessary to lure international flights to the area, he said.
He said after immigration and customs facilities are in place, the Bacolod-Silay Airport can immediately function as an international airport.
Benitez reiterated his plan of creating a tourism road network in the third district that will connect it to the first district.
He said that P400 million has been downloaded for the Silay Patag tourism loop.
He also lauded businessman Ricardo Tan for his effort at developing the Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City.*CPG
