The district elections for members of the board of directors of the Negros Oriental Elective Cooperative 1 will be held in Mabinay August 31, Manjuyod - September 7, Tayasan - September 14, and Canlaon City - September 21, its press release said.
Before the elections, the power cooperative conducted an information campaign in Mabinay and Manjuyod yesterday, Tayasan – August 2; and Canlaon City – August 9, and invited the participation of local and barangay officials, department heads, the academe and church leaders, the press release also said.
A candidate should be a bonafide member of the cooperative at least 90 days before the election, 21 years old, and a resident of the district he or she seeks to represent one year before the district polls.
A candidate should not be employed by, or financially interested in a competing enterprise or a business selling electric energy or electrical hardware to the cooperative, and/or doing business with the cooperative, including the use or rental of poles; must have no unsettled or outstanding obligations to the cooperative; has not been apprehended for electric pilferage by the cooperative, and has not been removed for cause as director or employee from any electric cooperative, the press release also said.
Those who ran in the local or national elections are disqualified from running for cooperative director one year after the polls, the press release also said.
