Silay tankers win
in SJI swim fest

Silay City swimmers, led by Joshua Junsay, captured 21 gold medals in the St. John’s Institute 7th Monsignor’s Cup Swim Fest held July 20 at the Panaad Swimming Pool, Bacolod City, a press release from Silay City said.

Junsay topped the 200m Freestyle, 100m and 50m freestyle events as well as the 100m and 50m backstroke, and the 100m and 50m butterfly events. He also won a bronze medal in the 200m individual medley and was considered as the most be-medalled swimmer in the third and fourth year high school category.

In the elementary level, Silaynon John Richard Sayon grabbed four gold medals and a bronze, while his teammate Christopher James Bentulan obtained two gold and a bronze medals, the press release said.

Other medalists from the Silay swimming team were: Daven James Blanco with two gold medals, Sack Charlson Castillo and Akio Renel Melchor with one gold medal each, Margaritte Rose Delotavo, a silver medal, and Alexi Cabayaran, one gold and two silver medals and Juliana Rein Villavert of St. Theresita’s Academy, three gold medals and a silver in the Grade 1 and 2 category.

The team was coached by Joelin Patris with Rex Azuroi, as assistant coach, the press release said.*
