It was a totally enjoyable evening at the Bacolod Pavillon Resort Hotel and Restaurant when the well-loved rector of the San Sebastian Cathedral, Fr. Felix Pasquin, celebrated his birthday recently.
A big crowd, headed by Bishop Vicente Navarra, with a number of priests and guests gathered to wish him a Happy Birthday.
The mass was going on by the time we arrived and we could see more people coming in until the grand ballroom was filled with well-wishers. The mass ended with everyone singing, Happy Birthday to a beaming celebrator, who greeted each guest as he moved around the hall.
It’s amazing how Fr. Pasquin has won the hearts of the people of Bacolod through the years with his sincerity, his deep concern for everyone, and his charismatic personality. To all of us who love him, he has been a true friend and religious leader, who is always open and approachable.
After a most delicious dinner, the guests were entertained with songs by Woodrow Guanzon and Eric Geolingo, who was so energized by the applause that he sang not one or two, but four songs! Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella also performed two songs after delivering his message, which was spiked with funny quips. Elsa Leonardia, wife of Rep. Bing Leonardia, also gave a meaningful message on behalf of the congressman, who couldn’t come due to commitments in the House of Representatives.
The act that brought the house down was magician Bebot Turbanos, who mesmerized the crowd with his amazing magical tricks. Bishop Navarra’s message for Fr. Pasquin was truly from the heart and was heartily applauded by the audience.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FR. FELIX PASQUIN!*
