Church property returned

The 800 square-meter property that is part of the front section of the St. John Nepomuceno Parish Church compound in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City, will be returned to the Diocese of Bacolod, parish priest Fr. Anecito Buenafe said yesterday.

Some parishioners had raised a howl when they discovered that the Diocese of Bacolod had sold the property about two years ago.

Buenafe said all Catholic Church properties within the Diocese of Bacolod are owned by the Diocese.

The parish leaders met with Bishop Vicente Navarra Tuesday.

The bishop said Dan Jamero, who purchased the property in question from the Diocese of Bacolod for about P4 million, has agreed to return it as long as he is reimbursed for the amount he paid, Buenafe added.

The Diocese of Bacolod is returning the amount paid for the return of the 800-square meter property, Buenafe said.*CPG
