World Shoot Qualifier

The big names in practical shooting in the country are coming to Negros Occidental this week for the 3rd World Shoot Qualifier on August 8 to 11 at the new Silay PNP range.

To be hosted by the Gun Club of Negros Occidental in cooperation with the city government of Silay, the event expects to draw participation from 400 top caliber practical shooters in the country whose proficiency in practical shooting will be tested.

Heading the list of the participants are Philippine top shooters Jethro Dionisio, Jag Lejano, Jay Morales and Gov. Teng Mangundadatu.

Gilas routs Japan, 90-71

Gilas Pilipinas pounced on Japan, 90-71, last night to start strong in the second round of the 27th FIBA Asia Championships at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

That boosted the morale of the Philippine Team after the heartbreaking loss in the hands of the Chinese Taipei in the first round of the competition, Saturday.

Negrense Jeff Chan, once again, delivered a stellar performance for the Filipinos by finishing the game with 16 points, converting four out of his five attempts from the three-point area.

Trimaxi, Silver Dragon
complete NFL semis cast

Trimaxi Agro beat Jakalz, 3-2, while the Silver Dragon prevailed over Las Buenas FC, 5-3, to complete the semifinals cast of the North Football League at the Ayala North Point football pitch in Talisay City, Sunday.

Both Trimaxi and Silver Dragon advanced to the semis with an identical five wins and five losses record, but Trimaxi managed to secure the No. 3 slot in the team standings with a higher percentage in goal difference.

No. 1 team Dynamic Builders remains unbeaten going into the final four stage after a scoreless draw against Ceres Transport. Sunday.
