Bacolod to honor
boxing champs

The city government of Bacolod will hold a tribute called “Night of Champions”, to honor the accomplishments of four boxing champions from Negros Occidental, a press release from city hall said.

This was after the recent courtesy call of World Boxing Organization Asia Pacific superbantamweight and World Boxing Confederation international superbantamweight champ Genesis “Azukal” Servania on Mayor Monico Puentevella at the Bacolod Government Center, the press release also said.

Servania thanked the Bacoleños for their support and also to his fellow Negrense boxers Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, Merlito “Tiger” Sabillo and “King” Arthur Villanueva, the press release said.

Servania won his last fight via a ninth round split technical decision against Japanese Konosuke Tomiyama at the Cotai Arena in Macau last July 28, the press release said.

To commemorate the recent accomplishments of the four boxers, Puentevella proposed a “Night of Champions” to be held on the week of the city’s Charter Day celebration, the press release added.*
