Philippines vs. Kazakhstan in q’finals

MANILA - The Philippines was able to wave off its sluggish start after coming alive in the 4th quarter to shut down Hong Kong, 67-55 and claimed the top spot in Group E on last night at the Mall Of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Coach Chot stated his opinions about Kazakhstan whom they will face tomorrow in the knockout quarterfinals, "We know how dangerous Kazakhstan is, they're tall, they have a lot of shooters and we have to give our best game against them.”

The Philippines improved their record to 4-1 to force a three way tie with Chinese Taipei and Qatar. The Philippines was able to grab the top spot because of their higher quotient virtue.

Sharp dribblers beat Chowking
in Tay Tung Alumni basketball

Sharp/Ming’s Pei Pa Kua cagers strengthened their bid for this year’s title as they beat Chowking/Munsterrific, 82 – 69, to remain undefeated in Bracket B of the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Alumni Basketball Cup at the Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City.

Fielding their big men in the opening minutes, Sharp/Ming’s Candy surged ahead with a 25 – 4 to rattle Chowking/Munsterrific.

Sharp took control of the boards and tightened their defense to force Chowking to commit costly turnovers. Stephen Yee to score nine points for Sharp while teammates Brian Tan and James Tan added eight points each in the first quarter binge.

MCAS takes lead
in bowling tourney

Mulo Car Aircon Services led in the premiere class, with Davies I and Condura ASSFBI Ladies also doing it in their categories of the Sharp Open Trio and Non-rated Bowling Tournament at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

With two more playing days to go, MCAS Team led by Romulo “D’Gunner” Ramos, now has 3,724 points to lead the 7 teams in Class A category, while Davies I of Romel Jover and Edgar Jerez and Condura Ladies headed by Juliet Regollo posted 3,793 and 3,686, respectively.

With MCAS are ESD Electronz I, 3,671; Silverado ASSFBI, 3,634; Sharp I,3,599; NPBC RJ Stars/LJP, 3,574; Davies II, 2,667, and ESD Electronz II, 2,469.
