The District rocks

It had been pouring rain all day, and the organizers of the Combat-Zumba event at The District Ayala Mall in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, were feeling apprehensive that the open-air affair would be a disaster because of the bad weather.

They began storming the heavens with prayers for the rain to stop, as people began arriving wearing their sports attire.

As if on cue, by 6 p.m., the scheduled hour for the event to begin, the skies cleared, the rain stopped and the intoxicating sounds of the Latin music filled the court area that was flooded with lights. The crowd cheered with delight as Joanne Visitacion and Lalaine Guides, took the stage and began the fitness exercises.

Men and women of all ages, young and old alike, joined in the fun, sweating, twisting and gyrating to the Latin beat as if there was no tomorrow. Soon, the tempo quickened and Power-Combat instructor Nell Astudillo of Davao led the crowd in a combination of Combat-Zumba exercises using martial arts moves, like kicking, jabbing, upper cut cross cut mixed with fun that took their breaths away.

The participants simply loved the way Nell, a former ramp model before becoming a Power-Combat instructor, held them awestruck with his amazing physique and hunky good looks.

The participants, numbering to around 400, had the time of their lives using muscles and stamina they never thought they had before. Pandemonium broke out after the exercises when ice cream and other giveaways were given away.
