89 barangay captains tour
waste treatment facility

Eighty-nine barangay captains of Cabanatuan City in Nueva Vizcaya were in Dumaguete City Wednesday for a study tour on its septage waste treatment facility.

The officials were briefed on the P26 million joint project of the Dumaguete City government and the Dumaguete City Water District by City Administrator William Ablong. They also visited the facility in Barangay Camanjac.

The project has attracted visitors from other local government units in the Philippines after it won the Galing Pook Award for best practice, Ablong said.

executive-legislative agenda

Around 75 department heads and other key officials of Negros Oriental convened in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, to work on the 2014-2016 executive-legislative agenda of the province until Saturday.

The activity aims to identify priority programs and projects of the province for the next three years and to synchronize these between the executive and legislative branches.

Governor Roel Degamo, Vice Governor Mark Macias, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, department heads, division, unit and section heads, representatives from the Department of Education and the Philippine National Police are among the participants in the gathering.

wins 3 medals in int’l tilt

Chivas Anton Malunda won three medals in the internationally-acclaimed World Championship for Performing Arts recently.

Malunda, 27, who hails from Tanjay, Negros Oriental, is the son of retired police general, Irving, and Zenaida Malunda. He won in the three divisions in the solo singing category of the WCOPA held July 12-21 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles, California.

In a press conference yesterday in Dumaguete City, Malunda presented his gold, silver and bronze medals, and the division champion plaque from the WCOPA. He was among the 35 junior and senior contenders in the Philippine delegation to Hollywood’s “Official World Talent Championships” where 53 other countries had sent in their contestants.
