Immigration head
assures CIQ at airport

Bureau of Immigration officer-in-charge Siegfred Mison assured Bacolod Rep. Evelio Leonardia and tourism leader John Orola recently that he will ensure that a Customs, Immigration and Quarantine system is put in place at the Bacolod-Silay International Airport to accommodate international flights by December, a press release from the Office of the Congressman said.

Leonardia and Orola met with Mison in the latter’s Manila office last week.

Orola, president of the West Visayas Tourism Council and former city administrator was Leonardia’s action man on concerns to prepare the airport for international flights, the release said.

Leonardia said 17 chartered flights from Incheon, Korea will be landing directly in the Bacolod-Silay airport starting December this year if it is ready to process the incoming foreign tourists.

In a letter to Cabinet Secretary Jose Almendras and Mison two months ago, Orola had requested the immediate procurement and installation of the Passport Readers Equipment, assignment of immigration personnel and the preparation of the arrival/departure and physical facilities of the airport.*
