‘NFA not transferring to
offered Bago site'

The National Food Administration is not transferring to the lot of the Negros Occidental provincial government in Brgy. Tabunan, Bago City, NFA Negros Occidental manager Procopio Trabajo said yesterday.

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon has asked the NFA officials to relocate since the access road leading to the site of its warehouse along Gatuslao Street in Bacolod is included in the more than 3-hectare property the province is selling to a private developer.

Trabajo said they will remain in their present site as they have a deed of donation and the land title.

He also said they are not relocating to Tabunan because it is far and isolated.

Trabajo said they are dealing with large amounts of money and if they transfer to Tabunan, they may prone to robbery and theft.

Under the law, NFA is only allowed to do business with government-owned banks and if they will relocate to Brgy. Tabunan it would be difficult for them to withdraw or deposit money, Trabajo said.

Trabajo said he is willing to sit down with Marañon and discuss the matter.*APN
