Pilot error blamed
for Seair mishap

Seaair officials yesterday were eyeing pilot error as the cause of the freak accident involving a Seair A320 plane heading from Kalibo to Singapore, and not Manila as earlier reported.

Capt. Bert Yap, vice president for operations of Tigerair which operates Seair, said the pilot and co-pilot of the plane are now grounded as a standard measure once an aircraft figures in an accident.

The pilot miscalulated his maneuver on the runway, Yap said.

He also said the runway was cleared of the aircraft at around 2 pm.

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport Media Affairs Division said 12 flights were affected by the incident.

Yap said the airplane was inspected by Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines to check on its airworthiness.

Nobody was hurt in the incident.*PNA
