Huskies win in
Bantayan friendly

Basketball Unified Sports Group nipped Wellisa Farms, 92-88, and bowed to Bantayan Selection, 100-103, in a pair of out-of-town games last week in Bantayan Island, Cebu, a press release from BUS G said.

Koko Fuentebella led the Huskies with 30 points, Nene Sibaya drilled in 15, Ireneo Morales tallied 12, and Edgar Basco added 10 points, as the Huskies negated the 40-point performance of host Wellington Chan Lim, who hit 12 triples.

Even with Mikee Lim scoring 10 points for Welissa Farms, the Cebu-based squad failed to stop the visitors from Bacolod from clinching a victory as they employed a stinging defense to keep their hosts from scoring more than eight points, the press release said.

A younger Bantayan Selection formed by Councilor Danilo Kiamco, however, avenged the loss of Welissa Farms as six of their players, led by Bill Tangco, scored in double figure to frustrate the Huskies.

Tangco churned in 20 points, Junjun Yu chipped in 18, Abe Lim hit 13, Richard Gonzaga added 12, Pong Alolor and Bebot Arabe shot 10 apiece for Bantayan Selection.

BUS G relied on Vic Duenas’ 30 points supported by Nene Sibaya’s 20, Raymundo Sapa scattered 15, Rene Antones has 14, Koko Fuentebella chipped in 12 and Edgar Basco added 10 points for the Huskies losing cause, the press release said.

The visitors from Bacolod trailed their hosts the rest of the way as the 30-Up team from Bantayan never gave them a chance to overtake.

The Huskies trip was second in a row after 40 Aces Club in Cebu hosted a couple of fellowship games earlier.

Calendared out-of-town games are part of the special events programmed by BUS G chaired by adviser Bing Soyao.

Dumaguete is being considered next in the agenda as BUS G hopes to visit the city on September 5, the press release added.*
