up 50.6 percent

The number of regular voters in Negros Occidental is now 1,635,676, or 3.82 percent higher than the May 2013 polls, while the number of Sangguniang Kabataan voters is now 100,166, or 50.6 percent higher than in the 2010 polls, Provincial Elections Supervisor Jessie Suarez said yesterday.

The number of regular voters was previously 1,574,784 or 60,245 less that the 1.63 million now, while the previous number of SK voters was 66,472 or 33,694 less.

It shows the enormous interest of voters to participate in the coming barangay and SK elections in October, Suarez said.

Regular increases are usually only about 10 to 15 percent, he said.

Latest Comelec figures show that the number of voters in the cities and towns of Negros Occidental are: Bacolod City – 263,649, Bago City – 88,825, Cadiz City – 89,986, Escalante City – 53,790, Himamaylan City – 61,239, Kabankalan City – 93,259, La Carlota City – 36,009, Sagay City – 69,654;

San Carlos City – 74,168, Silay City – 74,428, Sipalay City – 37,273, Talisay City – 57,357, Victorias City – 54,529, Binalbagan – 36,677, Calatrava – 47,784, Candoni – 12,661, Cauayan – 45,202, Don Salvador Benedicto – 13,439, E.B. Magalona – 34,513, Hinigaran – 46,845;

Hinoba-an – 27,896, Ilog – 30,917, Isabela – 35,029, La Castellana – 39,916, Manapla – 28,817, Moises Padilla – 25,614, Murcia – 45,341, Pontevedra – 30,258, Pulupandan – 17,170, San Enrique – 16,352, Toboso – 24,540 and Valladolid – 22,541.

The following are the new number of SK voters in the towns and cities of Negros Occidental: First District: Escalante City – 3,565, San Carlos City – 3,765, Calatrava – 3,292, DSB – 680, Toboso – 1,877; Second District: Cadiz City – 6,303, Sagay City – 4,153, Manapla – 2,300;

Third District: Silay City – 4,122, Talisay City – 3,045, Victorias City – 3,899, E.B. Magalona – 2,388, Murcia – 3,407; Fourth District: Bago City – 6,964, La Carlota City – 2,602, Pontevedra – 1,978, Pulupandan – 994, San Enrique – 1,112, Valladolid – 1,561;

Fifth District: Himamaylan City – 3,972, Binalbagan – 2,976, Hinigaran – 3,247, Isabela – 2,604, La Castellana – 2,499, Moises Padilla – 2,170; Sixth District: Kabankalan City – 6,810, Sipalay City – 3,247, Candoni – 942, Cauayan – 3,655, Hinoba-an – 2,621 and Ilog – 2,346; and Bacolod City – 5,040.*CPG
