PHL cagers ready
for SEA Games

MANILA - The men and women's national basketball beams are set to leave today to represent the country in the Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar from December 9 to 16.

Men’s basketball assistant coach Josh Reyes told Manila-based reporters yesterday that they have a better and more intense preparation, while team captain Kevin Alas said they have been preparing for two months and their target is to win the gold medal for the Philippines.

Women’s basketball coach Haydee Ong echoed the same hope for her team adding that they made some adjustments and they are fully prepared for their first game against Malaysia.

Perlas Pilipinas captain Joan Grajales stressed that they have moved on from their unfruitful campaign in the FIBA Asia Women's tournament their main focus now is the SEA Games.

The men's national team will start its campaign against Singapore on December 9 and will be followed by Cambodia the next day. After a one-day rest, they will face Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia and Malaysia from December 12 to 15.

Perlas Pilipinas will face Malaysia and Thailand on December 9 and10, respectively. They will collide with Malaysia and Myanmar on December 15 and 16.*PNA
