The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board is launching a drive against public utility drivers who refuse to take passengers especially during rush hours this Yuletide season, LTFRB Region 6 Director Romulo Bernardes, said yesterday.
Bernardes said the drive, called as “Oplan Isnabero”, has already been implemented in other areas in the country and has resulted in the apprehension of about a hundred of taxi drivers.
He said that usually, during rush hours, taxi drivers will not run their meters and instead fix a rate for passengers, which he said is a violation of their franchise, agreement with the LTFRB.
Bernardes warned that erring drivers will be fined P1,500 and be meted a two-month suspension of their drivers' licenses.
“Oplan Isnabero”, is an effort of the Department of Transportation and Communications, Land Transportation Office and LTFRB.
