Dumaguete ditches
Christmas party

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The Dumaguete City government will not hold its Christmas party in deference to the thousands of people devastated by super-typhoon “Yolanda” in the Visayas.

The contribution of each employee for the Christmas gathering will be collected and sent to survivors of the typhoon in hardest-hit areas in Leyte and Samar, where residents are still reeling from the devastation, City Administrator William Ablong said yesterday.

He said City Hall is eyeing the release of additional cash gift for the employees, but said the amount of P20,000, as reported, is not final yet since they will still check if funds are available.

As a practice, every regular employee is asked to set aside an amount from their extra cash gift for the job-order workers, who are not qualified to receive the incentive.

The deduction or contribution for job orders is pro-rated according to the salary grade of a regular employee.

The giving of the additional cash gift will be in accordance with the guidelines of the Commission on Audit, he said.*JFP
