A bidding for the firm to handle the garbage collection of Bacolod will be held this month or early next year, City Mayor Monico Puentevella said yesterday.
Puentevella said the bidding will be held because the contract between Bacolod and the Metrowaste Environment and Solid Waste Management, the firm presently handling the garbage collection of the city, ended on October 30.
Metrowaste can join the bidding if they want to, after all, they had a good performance as far as garbage collection is concerned, he also said.
Until the bidding is held, Metrowaste will continue to collect the city’s garbage.
Puentevella told the public to immediately report to their officials if their garbage has not been collected so the city could ask the management of Metrowaste to gather them.
He said he and several barangay captains will also visit Las Piñas and Marikina in January to observe how the officials of these cities run their Solid Waste Management Programs.
He said they hope that Bacolod can replicate the good practices in Solid Waste Management Programs of these cities.*APN
