Teams A, C prevail in
Ayala Club cagefest

A 14-point explosion from Alex Fernandez in the second quarter carried defending champion Team A to an opening game victory against Team B, 88-62, in the Ayala Basketball Club 3rd Conference Tournament held at Ayala Northpoint clubhouse in Talisay City.

Team A got off to a rousing first quarter as Tad Caperonce and Vince Tan combined for 13 points for a 19-10 advantage against Team B.

The lead widened to 24-points in the second canto as Fernandez sizzled.

Team B tried to catch up in the second half with Tommy Andren delivering the points, but Team A managed to protect their double digit lead to seal the victory.

Fernandez topscored for led Team A with 16 points while Brod Hojilla delivered 10, JM Golez and Philip Abong registered 9 points each.

Andren had 21 points for Team B.

In the second game, Toto Arela’s 12-point production and Mark Jomalesa’s two connections from the three-point area in the fourth quarter carried Team C past Team E.

It was a close win for Team C as Team E remained within striking distance all throughout the game.

Taking two-point lead at 18-16 in the first quarter, Team C could not shake off Team in the second quarter as the gamed ended in a deadlock at halftime

Team C grabbed the lead in the third quarter as scored seven points including a buzzer beater.

Arela led Team C with 24 points with Dante Loarca backing him up with 10 points while Tan, Tony Agustin, Jomalesa and La’o combined for 29 points.

Deccuariza topscored for Team E with 17 points while Derik Sibug contributed 12 points.*NAB
