2013 Prov’l Meet kicks off at
Panaad Stadium tomorrow

It’s all systems go for the opening of the 2013 Palarong Panlalawigan (Provincial Meet) at the Panaad Stadium tomorrow with the contingents from the 10 competing areas aiming for the gold medal in the different sporting events and cultural contest.

Physical Education and School Sports provincial coordinator Romeo Sison said the opening program will start at 3 p.m. following the parade around the Stadium of the members from the different delegations.

He added that elected officials from the provincial government and Bacolod City are invited to deliver their messages during the program.

Locsin, Bermejo eye slot in
junior taekwondo team

Milo Little Olympics taekwondo gold medalists Jason Lenard Locsin and Irene Therese Bermejo are eyeing a slot in the Junior Philippine National Taekwondo Team that will represent the country in the 10th WTF World Junior Taekwondo Championships in Taipei next year.

Both Locsin and Bermejo captured the gold in their respective event during the national finals of the 2013 Milo Little Olympics held in Cebu City on November 30.

Locsin, from West Negros University, dominated the junior men flyweight division, while Bermejo from Trinity Christian School, reigned in junior women featherweight category.

Royal Star nips Jast
in Fil-Sino basketball

Royal Star Trading rallied to nip Jast Enterprises, 73-72, and AACI Trading routed JSY Countertrade, 104-86, in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 2nd Conference Inter-Company Basketball Tournament at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City.

Jolly Castillo knocked down 1 of 2 free throws with four seconds left to shatter the deadlock and complete Royal Star’s fourth quarter comeback.

Jast Enterprises could not hold on to a 61-48 lead going to the fourth quarter as they succumbed to the full court pressure by Royal Star. Royal pounced on the turnovers highlighted by a Nico Yap steal and assisted to Jolly Castillo who was fouled when attempting a layup.
