Manhunt on for jail escapees

Manhunt operations are ongoing for the two inmates of the Negros Occidental District Jail in Barangay Tabunan, Bago City in the province, who broke out of jail at about 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

The escapees were Jimmy Sablon, 35, of Hacienda Hamandri in Brgy. Robles, La Castellana, and Charlie Duran, 25, of Brgy. Macasilao in Calatrava town, Negros Occidental, police records show.

Sablon is facing illegal firearms charges and violation of the Omnibus Election Code, while Duran has been charged with murder, records show.

Initial investigation showed that Sablon and Duran made a makeshift bamboo ladder and used it in scaling the inner-perimeter fence and then the 15-foot high concrete wall at the right side of the NODJ compound.

They jumped off the wall and headed towards the nearby sugarcane field, reports said.

Details on how they got the bamboo were not available yesterday.

The jail management had not issued any statement up to press time last night.*SGG
