59 hired on the spot
during DOLE job fair

Only 10.2 percent of those who joined the 80th Founding Anniversary job fair of the Department of Labor and Employment at the fountain area of Robinson's Place mall in Bacolod were hired on the spot, Ma. Victoria Mondragon, provincial head of the agency, said yesterday.

Mondragon said that of the 577 participants in the job fair, 59 were hired on the spot, while 489 qualified for another round of interviews.

She said there were 14,300 vacancies offered for Negrenses at the mega job fair of DOLE, of which, 4,562 are for overseas jobs and the rest for local employment.

The job fair on the theme “Walumpung Taong Pag-Unlad, Walumpung Taong Paglilingkod,” involved 22 local companies and 10 overseas firms. Customer service and technical service representatives and skilled workers top the list of available jobs.

DOLE also offered other services in collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Supervised Schools of Iloilo Inc., as well as help desk for the Regional Coordinating Council services and kasambahay.

It also set up another help desk for the profiling of workers displaced by super typhoon Yolanda for appropriate intervention.*APN
