6 gold medals at stake in Day 1
as competition in athletics starts

Area V will be out to defend the three gold medals the team won in shot put last year as athletics competition starts today in the 2013 Palarong Panlalawigan (Provincial Meet) at the Panaad Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Athletics tournament manager Heinrich Hetrosa said six gold medals are offered today in athletics from the elementary and secondary boys and girls’ shot put and secondary boys and girls’ long jump.

Kholinee Gedalanga bagged the gold in secondary boys’ shot put last year, while fellow Area V athletes Luz Delfin reigned in the secondary girls’ department, and Rhealyn Flores topped the elementary girls’ competition.

Basecom rolls to 7th straight win
in Fil-Sino 2nd Conference cagefest

Basecom is one game away from sweeping the double elimination round as the squad coasted to its 7th straight victory by blowing away Sweet Crystal, 118-82, in the latest Class B match-up of the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 2nd Conference Inter-Company Basketball Tournament at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

In Class A action, AACI Transport pulled off an upset win against top see JSY Transport, 80-70.

After training by one point in the first quarter at 21-22, Basecom dominated Sweet Crystal in the next three quarters by taking a double digit lead en route to a lopsided ending.

Province, TBAC post OT
victory in 35Up tilt

Province of Negros Occidental needed a double overtime to beat the Police Pastors Basketball Club, 132-123, while Talisay Basketball Athletic Club also registered an overtime win against UNAC, 100-97, to arrange a titular showdown in the 35Up Open League organized by the Basketball Coaches Association of Negros Occidental, a BCAN press release said.

The Capitol boys were pushed to the limit by PPBC at 03-all in the first extension as Tol Goutana split his charities with 9.5 seconds left after PoNo's Tommy Andren scored underneath.

PPBC forced the second overtime with a triple for a 115-all score after Rex Bayer canned his free throws with 14.9 seconds left. Andren's desperate heave from the arc was short with 2.8 seconds left.
